Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple is a Reform Jewish temple in Beachwood, Ohio, the oldest existing congregation in Cleveland.〔("Anshe Chesed" )〕 The name Anshe Chesed is Hebrew for "People of Loving Kindness".〔
The membership exceeded 2,000 families in the mid-1990s.
It is a member of the Union for Reform Judaism.
==History==
In 1841 the German Orthodox congregation was established and, on February 28, 1842, chartered.〔 In 1845 the Israelitic Anshe Chesed Society was formed when the Israelite Society (part of the original congregation) merged with Anshe Chesed.〔
In 1846 it built Cleveland's first synagogue;〔 in 1887 it dedicated its second building; in 1912, it became known as the Euclid Avenue Temple, its third home.〔
In the mid-1800s it became a Reform Jewish congregation.〔
In 1957 the Fairmount Temple, Anshe Chesed's present home, was dedicated,〔 and in 1958 Rabbi Arthur Lelyveld, former national director of B'nai B'rith Hillel Foundation was hired.〔
